Au Pair Paris is a unique au pair program that matches smart, caring, young English and Spanish speakers with French families in Paris and the Parisian metropolitan area. At Au Pair Paris we take a personalized approach and continue to support au pairs throughout the application and visa process, as well as providing support, introductions and meetings after they arrive in France.
Au Pair Paris is unique in its focus between Paris and the United States, although we also accept qualified candidates from around the world. It was conceived by two mothers, Sylvie Confiac in Paris, and Susan Horton in New York, who shared similar aspirations:
The real story of its conception began many years earlier, when Sylvie, eager to discover America, became an au pair for Susan and her family in New York City. They developed an enduring relationship and stayed in touch over the years.
They eventually reunited and found they shared an interest and passion for reviving the classical idea of an au pair and the meaningful cultural exchange inherent in this union. They brainstormed, researched, planned and, in the fall of 2008 gave birth to Au Pair Paris.

Susan is responsible for selecting qualified candidates to become au pairs in France. She has had 25 years experience working with and managing people for Susan Horton Designs, a company she founded.
As a young mother and professional, she chose to invite au pairs from France to care for her children and in 12 years, her family hosted 8 young women and 4 young men. She appreciates the care and knowledge they imparted, and in many cases, they continued to stay in close touch with her entire family. Susan’s professional attitude and personal touch contribute to the success of our matches.
Delphine is responsible for selecting qualified families to host au pairs in Paris and the Parisian metropolitan region. More than 22 years ago, before building a family on her own, she arrived in the USA to become an au pair, an enriching experience and one which enabled her to understand the au pair experience from both sides.
After returning to Paris and finishing her studies at la Sorbonne, she started to work in the au pair industry and never left it . Since then she has always been involved in promoting the au pair system as a cultural exchange. She will be happy to assist the au pairs throughout their stay and to meet them in her office in Paris if they have any questions.
Twenty years ago, before building a family of her own in Paris, Sylvie arrived in New York City to become the au pair to Susan Horton’s family, an enriching experience and one which enabled her to understand the au pair experience from both sides.
After returning to Paris, she worked at a job for 11 years in product development for the pharmaceutical industry and then spent a year in business consulting and organization. During that time, she maintained contact with Susan, eventually expressing the desire to leave corporate life and create a better balance between work and family. Together, in 2010, they created Au Pair Paris.
